The role:
At our hotel, we’re looking for a team who are passionate about Cumbria and our local food and drink producers and are eager to be a part of this county's incredible way of life. As a member of our team, you'll work alongside others who prioritise our guests and support each other.

As the Breakfast Chef at Another Place the Lake, you’ll bring culinary passion, creativity, and meticulous attention to detail to the team working in the Rampsbeck restaurant. Collaborating closely with the head chef, you'll oversee operations, and ensure top-notch food quality. Your leadership will inspire and guide the kitchen team, fostering harmony and efficiency.

What your days could look like:

  • To ensure that the preparation, cooking and service of all items of food on the current breakfast menu, ensuring that the standard is met
  • Carry out all mis en place for the service of breakfast, to include the traying-up of the required quantity of bacon, sausages, tomatoes etc
  • Prepare, cook and serve various egg dishes, porridge, or any other dishes that may be required
  • Slice cold meat, cut fruit and prepare compotes required for the cold buffet, maintaining constant fresh items from day to day
  • Prepare, cook and serve as required for the menu each day, keeping a close check on quantities while maintaining a sumptuous appearance
  • When required prepare kids buffet according to the numbers and giving a balanced menu, avoiding repartition
  • Compliance with all instructions given by immediate supervisor
  • Preparation for the day’s business in accordance with projected need
  • Following all schedules within the kitchen and completion of daily check sheets and temperature logs
  • Smooth running of all aspects of the kitchen and back of house areas
  • Responsible for undertaking the many tasks during the preparation, storage and service of food and the other associated tasks
  • Maintain an organised, clean and safe work place, not only for yourself but also for those around
  • To correctly record all waste in the appropriate method – No member of staff is to dispose of any items without completing the kitchen wastage sheets

Job skills & requirements:

  • Food Hygiene certificate
  • Flexible attitude to working hours and variable shift patterns
  • Interest and passion for the food industry
  • NVQ level 1& 2 or equivalent as a minimum
  • Team player
  • Guest service focused
  • Calm under extreme pressure
