The Role

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Assistant Group Financial Controller to join our team at Barons Eden.

This is a vital role within the finance department, where you will work closely with the Group Financial Controller and various internal departments to optimise cost-efficiency and improve overall financial performance. You’ll be responsible for preparing financial reports, supporting audits, and driving key initiatives that contribute to Barons Eden’s ongoing success.

Your Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage accurate financial statements to summarize the company’s financial status.
• Handle quarterly VAT returns and ensure compliance.
• Develop and produce financial forecasts that aid in strategic decision-making.
• Oversee cash flow forecasting to ensure liquidity goals are met.
• Assist with audit preparations and ensure smooth audit processes.
• Reconcile accounting discrepancies and resolve imbalances in a timely manner.
• Manage and delegate tasks to junior accounting staff, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
• Supervise Finance Assistants, covering their roles when needed.
• Collaborate with senior management, preparing reports to support business decisions.
• Complete the monthly management pack with precision and detail.
• Conduct daily income audits, reconciling and verifying monetary transactions.
• Handle ad hoc financial tasks and special projects as assigned.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in mathematics, accounting principles, and financial processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Highly detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Critical thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial software.
• Previous experience in a similar financial role is highly desirable.
