Job Summary 

You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, maintaining a clean workspace, and assisting with general kitchen duties to ensure smooth operations.

 

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)


  • Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas 

  • Load and unload dishwashing machines 

  • Wash specific items by hand (e.g. wooden cutting boards, large pots and delicate china) 

  • Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately 

  • Set up workstations before meal prep begins 

  • Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours 

  • Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and place orders when necessary 

  • Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues 

  • Remove garbage regularly 

  • Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor

  • Work experience as a Dishwasher preferred, but not required 

  • Hands-on experience with industrial washing machines 

  • Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed 

  • Time management skills 

  • Attention to detail and sanitation rules 

  • Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings 

  • Servsafe food handler’s certification required 

  • Expectations include always following all sanitation guidelines and maintain a properly cleaned and stocked dish station, kitchen and facilities 

  • General understanding of basic food preparation tasks 

  • An eagerness to perform daily and to learn new skills to progress in a fine dining atmosphere  

  • Availability and willingness to open/close the restaurant regularly and meet and exceed expectations on open/closing routines and tasks

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is regularly required to stand for a prolonged period, reach, bend and lift heavy objects. The noise and activity level in the work environment is typically high. You may be required to carry glassware, alcohol, cases of beer, etc. and use knives and other kitchen tools.  


  • Stamina and Endurance: Ability to stand for long periods and work through shifts without sitting.

  • Strength: Capability to lift and carry heavy objects, typically 20-50 pounds.

  • Manual Dexterity: Skill in handling dishes quickly and efficiently, including scrubbing, loading, and unloading.

  • Mobility: Ability to move around in tight spaces, involving bending, twisting, and squatting.

  • Good Hand-Eye Coordination: Coordination for loading dishes, placing them into racks, and putting them away.

  • Tolerating Heat and Moisture: Comfort working in hot, steamy environments due to dishwashing equipment and kitchen conditions.

  • Punctuality and Reliability: Consistency in performing tasks efficiently and ensuring a steady supply of clean dishes.
