We are looking for an experienced and charismatic Bar Supervisor to join the team at Mark’s Club, part of The Birley Clubs.

Mark’s Club is a private members’ dining club, based in a serene Mayfair townhouse providing a solace to all its members from the hectic pace of the city outside. The Club serves the finest, award-winning cuisine alongside an outstanding selection of cocktails, wines and cigars.

The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar, ensuring smooth and efficient service while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction. This role involves supervising bar staff, ensuring inventory is managed properly, assisting in training, development, and providing leadership on the floor during shifts. The Bar Supervisor plays a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for Members and contributing to the overall success of the bar.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Supervision and Training:

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise bar staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate expectations and provide training on service standards, drink preparation, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure team members follow company procedures, and health & safety standards.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring bar staff engage with Members in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized bar area that is visually appealing and conducive to excellent service and ensure proper drink presentation, portioning, and service of alcoholic beverages.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist in managing bar stock levels, including ordering, storing, and tracking alcohol, mixers, garnishes, and other supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and report stock levels to the Head of Bars.
  • Ensure the bar operates efficiently without shortages and that overstock situations are always minimized.
  • Monitor and control wastage and assist in implementing stock control measures.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that the bar complies with all health and safety regulations, including safe alcohol service, food safety, and sanitation practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area in compliance with hygiene standards.
  • Oversee the proper handling of glassware, equipment, and bar tools.

Financial and Operational Performance:

  • Assist in monitoring and controlling the bar’s financial performance, ensuring that sales targets are met, and costs are controlled.
  • Ensure all drinks are prepared and served in line with company pricing, promotions, and drink recipes.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with the Head of Bars, servers, kitchen staff, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events, promotions, or seasonal menu changes.
  • Encourage teamwork, a positive work environment, ensuring staff morale remains high.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a bar or hospitality setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of beverages, drink preparation, and customer service standards.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food and beverage service.
  • Passion for hospitality and staying up to date with trends in the bar/cocktail industry.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fast-paced environment with physical demands, including standing for long periods and lifting supplies. Ability to work under pressure during peak times and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
